REFLECTIONS

Looking back on the week, we sure go alot in for such a short amount of time. What are some observations, revelations, changes, thumbs up, or just thoughts on anything we did this week. If you did something that was out of your comfort zone and you felt good about it, share those feelings with us also.

I really liked how we all got to talk about how the class is going, I personally enjoy days where we can just talk, kind of relaxing days. I also liked how we did the trust activities, everyone participated and everyone cheered and all in all, we looked like and acted as a team.

i saw major improvement as a class. witht he running activity. everyone was cheering people on and clapping. Yeah there were still some stragglers that were disconnected but everyone else was a group and very positive.
Out of comfort zone. Most deffinately. I hate public speaking. I hate the spotlight. I dont know what made me stand up and grab a maker in room 50. But i did. It was very weird for me. But it was different. And i kept pushing myself.

I notice a lot more effort from the group as a whole. I enjoyed seeing people get pumped for activities or being more willing to share their ideas when we talked. Between the talking and the gymnastic room activities, I have to say that I like the activities more. Getting to try new things is exciting for me and I am glad we ended the week doing that. As for comfort zones, our group did a great job cheering people who were afraid/ out of their comfort zone and I just wanted to recognize that.

In my opinion, we seemed to have an initial idea about what qualities we wanted to put on the value contract. But, it wasn't until we actually had to spend multiple days on it and analyzing every little aspect of it that we really started to get a clearer idea of what each quality meant to us. Because we spent a lot of time on it, we also began to realize for the group which things were either more important than others or could be grouped as the larger category that everything fit under. It was interesting to see how everyone automatically assumed communication would be one of the larger categories at the beginning, and after much debate, we ended up omitting it altogether. We really started to think and act as a group this week. I think one good moment was when someone said that although communication is a quality that most of us deem important, we have to consider that a certain amount of us (whether it is a small amount or large amount), might not be comfortable with it (and how we can't just let those people's grades suffer since some things are harder than others for each person). Something else I noticed from this week is how today when we did the various trust activities and the jumping, pretty much everyone was focused and willing to try to do what they could. We also cheered on our classmates to pull through if they were having any trouble with an activity.

Although there were some bumps in the road, I feel really good about what we've done this past week.
At times, I found myself getting very frustrated when we were discussing the different aspects of our value contract.
However, I really felt better after Friday's class. Everything we were talking about came together with the springboard jumping activity on Friday. As a class, we were very supportive of each other. For example, there were some of us who struggled with the jumping, but we all joined together in cheering that person on. I really liked seeing that. It made me feel like we were truly becoming a team and a support system.

I think that this past week was a good release of some frustrations for us. We got to openly communicate(pun intended!) instead of venting our frustrations under our breaths. We got to understand each other better and we are now starting to try and act more like a team. It was good to see that once we had laid out a foundation for what's expected in Room 50, we were able to apply some of those values the next day in the gymnastics room. Overall, this past week was good for us and I am happy to see how willing we are to stick to our established values.

I think our class did a pretty good job trying to figure out the qualities we wanted to be graded on. It was very hard when I thought it would be easy at the beginning. It was no surprise that we had different opinions, but I think it was better that way because we had to work together to make a decision. In the end, I think we chose solid qualities that are needed to make this class a success. I was not here on friday, but I heard about the trust activities and I wish I could have been there.

What i liked about this past week was how we got to work together as an entire class by talking and discussing things instead of having to do group challenges where some strive and others struggle. Everyone can easily participate in class discussions and i enjoyed that everyone got to speak their mind on our list of how we want to be graded. Our class got to grow together just by discussion.

I think that our class grew a lot this week during the discussions and the activities. Everyone participated in the activities and contributed to choosing the qualities that we wanted to be graded on. The trust activities were also fun, although they were a little out of my comfort zone. It brought our group together as we cheered each other on and tried to make sure that everyone was included.

I saw alot of postive stuff this week. Everyone is really starting to come together as a team. Everyone really encouraged everyone and we all worked together and participated. I think we hit a mile stone this week, we all seem to be getting along better than ever before.

I liked how everyone desribed what they thought, was important characteristics have to for this class. And it was interesting to see, how many had similar thoughts. Also, how all their thoughts and reasons really contributed to what this class really needs.

i like the free days we actually got to talk about how our class is doing and come to conclusion and take Actions.
i also liked the "jumping over" activity, because it actually makes you realize how you feel when your responsible for some else, not only yourself. ex: when we had to jump over Mr.Davis, and not hurt him. Same as we would be responsible for a person climbing who your are watching out for.

I liked that while discussing our values, most people were contributing and we were able to come to some unified decisions. I liked the jumping activity, because it was kind of exciting and it was interesting to see how serious we all got when we realized mr. davis's head was at stake! Overall I think it was a very productive week.

I am an active person so i really didnt like all of the sitting around and thinking about how we want to grade our class. I understand this this a good process to do but I am not going to lie and say I loved it. Another thing I noticed was this week felt really fake, i dont think everyone wanted to do the activity. I feel like what was an attempt to get us out of our shells just made us create a new one that satisfies the people who judge this class.

I really liked that we got to talk about what we all felt like, even though sometimes I just listen to what everyone else has to say. I feel like we are all starting to get everyone motivated and interested in what we are talking about. And the trust activity's are also really fun!

I thought the class really improved individually, which in turn benefitted the class as a whole. I enjoyed the trust activities because they challenged alot of us to really get outside of our comfort zones. I also like when we had the big group talk day because those type of days are when we really get to know eachother on a more personal level.

I was glad to see a large improvement in terms of participation in the activity where we determined what to be graded on. There was some frustration, but we were nicely able to reach a compromise. I was glad to see in the running activity that people were cheering on those who had a hard time getting of their comfort zones.

I can see that the class is starting to get out of our normal group of friends. Also, we are learning to communicate better within our group. we all go together and shared our opinions. when we were deciding how we should have been graded i saw a lot of people speaking their minds about it or at least listening. furthermore, we are also obtaining better participation.

I think that our group did a good job of coming up with five different values for our contract, and we were able to please the majority of our class with our final choices. I really enjoyed the spring board activity because it was interesting to see how people's level of comfort varied so greatly. Something that was comfortable for me was very hard for other people because it's something that they are not accustomed to doing, and it's interesting to see things from a different perspective than my own. I'm glad that the classroom days are nearly over for now because I enjoy our team building activities more than sitting in the classroom, but I still think that the value contracts are important and necessary.

i think it's good that we all got to talk about about what we should be graded on as a class & discuss it. but, i also think that we should listen more to other people's opinions and if there are two strong opposing thoughts then we should vote on it as a class and not argue about it anymore because the majority agrees with it.

I think our class improved on working as a group. We were able to decide on the value contract and I think this improved our communicatin skills. After we addressed the problems we have as a group, I noticed improvements even after yesterdays activity.

This week was interesting. I found out that I'm actually able to trust people more than I thought. Plus our class, I felt, was able to trust each othr more than before. I think because we did trust activities the class is closer and I'm pretty sure this will benifit our class later on. :-)

Gwendolyn Glasner said...

I think we started to become closer as a whole. People stepped forward and expressed their ideas. This week we listened to what everyone had to say rather than just screaming over each other.

Although we had a bit of trouble at first when grouping the characteristics (as in, whether or not to include communication) i think we did a good job agreeing as a class what we wanted. As well, I think our class is starting to get more comfortable with each other, and it shows in the activities we do. Also I thought the vault activities and the second trust fall that was taller were both fun, and put some people out of their comfort zones. I was glad though that Mr. Davis could trust us not to break his nose. Personally, I like those sorts of individual activities that still involve the group because everyone has to complete it.

Overall, I think that we're working together more cohesively in class. I've observed more people taking part in our activities rather than doing their own thing. Also, I feel like not only are people actively participating, they're trying to take everyone's ideas into consideration as well.

This week I feel like we improved our dynamic greatly. After talking about what was important for our class to function the class seemed to have a better attitude towards the activities. The spring board activity showed some of these things when we clapped for those who were able to complete the task and we conquered the challenge with support for everyone from the entire team.

I think our class is at least starting to become one unit. We seem a lot more comfortable with each other and seem to be more willing to separate from our clicks and talk to other people. Although we aren't there yet Its a start.

I thought that week worked very well. We all began to work as a group, especailly with the joint trust falls and jumping over Mr. Davis. I also thought that the value contract process helped us figure out a better way of communicating as a group. Although that process may have started off a little on the rough side, we all were able to figure it out with helped us bond as a team. I've also noticed that a lot more people are participating and showcasing their effort and care for this class. I think that will serve us well in the future. (sorry this is so late)
