SELF AND GROUP EVALUATION

This week we are going to take a minute to evaluate our progress as a class. Please answer the following four questions as honestly and openly as you can. Think about the activities we have done and the roles you have played and the roles you have seen others play.
1. What strengths do you bring to or group?
2. How do you rate yourself as a leader and as a follower?
3. What behaviors have you observed from other team members that you like?
4. What behaviors have you observed from other team members that you dont like?
(dont include names just observations)

The blog isn't working again...
1. I like like to think that I am adventurous and am open-minded about most things. I bring a willingness to try so to speak.
2. I feel like I can lead the group if I have an idea or if I notice someone idea's aren't being heard. Although I can also follow others leads as well.
3. I have notice that our group has become a lot more accepting and willing to act silly than we did at the beginning of the year. We take the task more seriously yet not so serious that we aren't having fun.
4. Even though we have come a long way, we still have people that withdraw from the group and segragate themselves.

1. I think I am a good listener and i try to participate in all the activities to lead a good example for others. I also enjoy helping people and getting to a compromise.
2. i usually am i follower, i will put in my input if i feel it needed too; I will also be a leader if i am put into the situation, but i perfer to lead by being the first one to follow.
3. I see our class has alot of people with many ideas and very fun personalities.
4. In some activites i notice some people sitting down and not paying attention. I sometimes see peoples ideas being shut down because no one listens, id like to see that change.

1. I think that I am a good problem-solver. I'm pretty creative, and can think up some kind of a solution to almost anything.
2. Sometimes I'm really in the mood to share an idea and lead a group, but other times I'd much rather just have other people tell me the plan.
3. I think a lot of my classmates are very energetic and positive! Which is nice to be around. I don't think anyone is ever intentionally manevolent towards others.
4. I've noticed that there are some people who try to sabotage the activites because they can't control themselves. I get that some aren't investing the same amount of effort into the class, but I don't think that gives them a right to ruin others experiences.

I try to be open minded about things and try to make the best out of a situation and try to make everyone feel like they belong.
2. I prefer to follow more than to lead, but if I am put in a situation where it is my responsibility to lead,I will try to do my best.
3. As a group, we are more trusting of each other and are having a lot more fun as a group. We seem to have come out of our comfort zones are trying new things.
4. I still think that some of us don't fully partcipate in some of the activities and that we go off into our little groups and start to talk and ignore what the task at hand is.

1. I think one of my strengths in the group is being outgoing and being open to talk to new people and listen to others ideas and thoughts.
2. As a leader, I think I have the capability to be one, yet I haven't really done anything to take a step to be a leader. I think so far I've been mostly a follower.
3. Some behaviors that I liked were some kids actually tried such activity and didn't kept trying til the end of the period, even if we never got the goal accomplished. Also, I like how some people are open to talk about things.
4. Some things I don't like that people have done are when people sit around and have the rest of the group do all the work. Also, when we have to make groups, it seems to always be the same groups. I'd like to see that change. I think that would be a huge step in our class.

1. The strengths i bring to the group are caring (i care about everyones safety and i care about their opinions) i listen (i will take into opinion what everyone says and listen fully) i do not judge people and i am willing to contribute

2. If ONE is a follower and TEN is a leader. I rate myself about a 6 or 7. I love being a leader and i think i have great ideas (what person does have think that) but i always like to follow other people (it feels good helping someone with their idea, especialy when it works)

3. Things i like that others have done is trying everyones ideas, even if it isnt their own idea people are willing to give it a try and listen to other peoples opinions. Others thing i like are when people say positive, encouraging comments toward others and if we do team vs team when they say nice thigns to the other team (win or lose)

4. Behaviors that i dont like are when people only stick with their friends. When we do group things they clump together and dont interact with others. Also i do not like when people say negative comments towards people or their ideas, if you watch you can see it in the persons face that comments have an affect on them.

1. Some strengths that I bring to the group include the ability to listen, which gives others the chance to speak their minds, an easy-going manner, and consideration about everyone elses' feelings. I do not want to insult or hurt anyone, which is why I try as hard as I can to respect people.

2. I think I am somewhere in the middle of a leader and a follower. I can put out ideas and am comfortable wit leading others, but I also can recognize when someone else has a better idea and then it would be better to follow them.

3. Our group has become more familiar with each other, so we are slowly loosening up and acting more like our true selves. We are also more energetic and we now realize that every activity we partake in has a purpose, so we are getting ready for the harder stuff later on.

4. One thing that I would like to see change is the fact that it is the same people evry time who step up and become a leader. I would like to see others take the responsibility upon themselves, but also those who are leaders to step back and try to accept that there are other alternatives that exist besides your way.

1. I think I bring a lot of creativity to our group. I also am very concious of how safe a situation is. I really love commuinicating ideas and making sure they are understood. I also have no trouble speaking in front of a group.
2. I would probably consider myself more of a leader than a follower. Although I have the ability to follow, I just try to sense what the group needs, and if it is a leader I am willing to step up.
3. I have noticed that our class is starting to figure out how to work together and maintain each other's trust while still having fun. I do believe I trust the people in this class more than I did when we first started the year.
4. I have observed that we still have some people who are removing themselves from activities through apathy. This can not only be extremely annoying, but also cause people who are trying to not learn everything they could from the experience.

Gwendolyn Glasner said...

1. The strength I contribute is the ability to listen to what people have to say. I think listening to people is key to learning new information and helps with communication.
2. During some activities I am not really sure of how to help so I am more of a follower but in some cases I feel that I can be more of a leader when if have a better idea of how to handle the task in a safe way.
3. I like that different people help out others when they have a better idea of the tasks. I think some people are more leaders than others are and they really help out the class as a whole.
4. I really don’t like how people continue to not participate and how they remove themselves to have their own conversation.

1. I think that I bring the strength of being a team player to the group. I find a lot of value in team work, so I try my best to be a part of the overall team.
2. I definitely see myself fitting in as a "quiet leader" of sorts. I like to lead by setting an example. Some of the time I try to offer up some ideas of how to accomplish the task at hand as well. I try to also follow leadership that is presented, within what I feel is reasonable.
3. I see some of my classmates really reaching out to each other and being involved with our activity of the day, and there are some people in our class who take charge and try to lead, which I applaud.
4. Although we've made immense improvement from the beginning of the year, I still see some of us who are off doing their own thing. Be it talking with their friends and what not, it sends the message that they really don't care about what's going on, or at least don't care to contribute anything to the group effort.

1. I think that I do a good job of listening to everyone's ideas, and I also don't allow myself to get frustrated even when something isn't going right. I have a positive mindset and attitude, which can often spread to others, and I also am willing to try almost any idea people offer.
2. I would say that so far I have been a follower when working as an entire class, but I will take more of a leadership role when we break into smaller groups.
3. I have observed many people offering lots of ideas, and I think that we do really well when we brainstorm. When we have discussions, it seems like we are all fairly accepting of one another, and we are also becoming more open with each other. There are always people who are willing to put themselves out there, whether its making a comment in a sharing circle or being the single person who has to climb a stack of mats.
4. I would like to see us communicating better in a large group setting, which is hard because there are so many voices and ideas being given at one time. I would also like to have other people step up as leaders, including myself, and to see people stepping out of their comfort zones.

1. I think a strength that I have is that I listen to what each person has to say so that I can be open to multiple opinions on how to approach something. I believe this is a strength because I believe that everyone should have a chance to be heard since everyone should be considered equal.

2. So far, I have been more of a follower than a leader. Occasionally I am a leader when suggesting different methods on how to complete a task. But, usually I am more so a follower than a leader.

3. I have observed that some members of the group are really trying. You can tell that some people bring to the plate all that they can think of and do their best. Some people also try to include other people that may be left out or unsure of what the plan is into participating in activities.

4. I don't particularly like that a lot of people who take on the leading role in class (whether they are natural leaders or just always take on the leader role), sometimes are the Only ones who are "heard". In my opinion, there are a lot of people who have the potential to take on a leading role, but are never really given the opportunity. I also feel like there are a lot of people who claim that they listen to everyone's opinions, but when the time comes to complete a given task, the leaders sometimes block out others' opinions when those people actually try to voice them. And sometimes, other members of the group just tend to block out others' opinions as well because sometimes all they care about is completing the task, and they do not ever question the leader.

1. i am more of a calm person. I don't get easily frustrated during actvivties. and I am also able to listen to ideas
2. i'm more of a follower than a leader. I am usually a soft spoken person and shy. I would not do well as a leader.
3. i notice that the groups are really fun to be with. They are a lot of them are really attentive. and funloving yet they still are able to stay on task.
4. sometimes people will go off and do their own thing while we are in a group.

Sally Park said...

1. A strength I think I bring to the group is being open-minded about everyone's ideas that they bring to the group.
2. I'm a follower because I feel that I already agree with a leader's ideas, or I just don't want any problems occurring if too many ideas are brought up to the group.
3. I think some people in our class have a lot of great leaders with many bright new ideas, and other people who are very good listeners and many who cooperate.
4. I feel that sometimes people don't really participate and how some peoples ideas are not fully listened by everyone.

Ian Eichelberg said...

1. I enjoy participating, and I am willing to help out in the group.

2. It depends on the situation really. I like being a leader, but I am more of a follower if others are taking charge.

3. That people are taking charge and directing other group members in a positive manner.

4. It really annoys me when people are off doing their own thing, not paying attention, while the others are trying to accomplish a task.

lali rodriguez said...

1.i think i participate well when we do an activity.

2.i think i can be a little of both cause if i have an idea i will say it, or when someone else does we will listen and try it out either way i contribute to the group its good to be both that way you get both perspectives.

3.it think we have many people who make a psitive contribution to the group share good ideas, our class has become very understanding and patient.

4.some people still just sit around and do nothing.

Andy D said...

1.I am creative when it comes to solving problems
2. I guess I have been one of the leaders.
3. People are trying more now and taking the class more seriously.
4. Something I have noticed is people not participating with the activity at hand.

Kathryn "Woo" Risher said...

1. I feel as though I listen well when other people are giving their imput and that I help bring energy in certain activities.
2. I see myself more as a leader, however I don't mind when other people step up and tell me what's going on.
3. Our group is definately more comfortable with eachother than we were at the beginning of the year.
4. I feel like sometimes the people that step up force their leadership, I think that a person that leads by exapmple will have a bigger impact on others around them, rather than someone that forces it. There are always two sides tot he story, so ultimately I think it's a matter of examining ourselves and seeing what we could do better to benefit the group the most.

Dominique Marisie said...

1. I think I am a good listener and I am open to trying anyones ideas no matter how much I may disagree.
2. I am usually a follower in a group because I cannot organize an activity with a large group of people and I don't have the creativity to come up with ideas like others do so I believe I'm better off listening to them and doing as they say to help accomplish the task.
3. Our class as a whole has become a lot more friendly and open. I don't feel uncomfortable around the people that I don't know very well and we can all work together when everyone's effort is necessary.
4. Some people in the class don't listen to others AT ALL. I personally think if you are not going to participate and remove yourself the least you could do is respect everyone else and listen to what they have to say cause most of the time its something important and can make a difference even if it isn't about you.

Dana Scholl said...

1. I feel that I bring a lot to our group. I think I'm a good listener and I try to listen to everyone's ideas. Also, I think I'm a good communicator and participator in all of our activities.

2. I think I am both a leader and a follower, it just depends on the situation I'm put in. If I feel that I have a good idea, I'm not afraid to take initiative, but if I feel that there are too many leaders or that I can't lead the group as well as someone else, then I'm a follower.

3. I think our class is actually becoming a class instead of many little cliques. Also, I feel that we have stopped worrying about what other people in the class are thinking, and have just been ourselves.

4. On the other hand, I don't feel we are breaking away fully from our cliques. If people have the choice of who they want to work with, they automatically choose the same people every time instead of meeting new people. Another thing I don't like is that not everyone is giving it their all. Some people just sit on the side and don't participate.

Jackie Zara said...

1. I think that I am a good listener that takes others ideas and opinions into consideration.

2. Though at times I would like to be a leader, I think I fall into the category of a follower during our challenges. There are many strong personalities that dominate the class, and therefore I think it's best to let them lead, because I can be a follower as well. Not everyone can be open-minded and listen, and because of this I try to use my strengths to the advantage of the class by assuming the role of a follower.

3. I really think that our class is beginning to function more as a team. We're cooperating better than before, and have learned how to work with our classmates' different personalities.

4. I have observed people not really engaging in the activities as much as they probably could. I don't think that everyone has to necessarily step up to be a leader, or contribute several ideas, but it would be nice to see people paying more attention. By simply listening you are showing somewhat of an interest in what we are doing.

Krystyna Lopez said...

1. I think I'm a pretty good problem solver and I have good ideas that I can contribute. Also I think I can help by doing things people normally wouldn't, like help with physical challenges or whatnot.
2. I think I'm a pretty good leader, or at least a good assistant to a leader/co-leader. If I feel like I have no ideas to contribute I think I do better as a follower, or rather a better listener to others' ideas and I'd rather see how I can help them and their ideas instead of leading.
3. Pretty good cooperation, and I like that some people step up and lead. As well, I think we're getting more comfortable with each other.
4. I think we can probably listen more to others' ideas and participate more, cause some people still tend to exclude themselves. As well we can probably communicate better, ex. if someone doesn't know how they can participate the group can help to assign them a task or figure out what the roles in the group are.

Liz Randall said...

1.) I think that I'm open to pretty much trying everything because I know that each activity has a point.
2.) I feel like I'm a leader by nature but they're just so many different people trying to voice their opinions so not only my ideas but others get shut down or not even acknowledged.
3.) Our group has loosened up which makes activities easier to execute.
4.)I feel like some people have an attitude that makes it seem like they have everything under control and that they don't need help so people get excluded whether they mean to withdraw or not.

Julija Grinevska said...

1) i think i am a good listener, because i always listen to what people have to say and most of the time i agree with them
2)i am more of the folower in the group tho, because i do not participate in leading the group much. There are several people who do it most of the time, so it does not let us chance to be.
3) Since the day one, the group became more close, friendly. We have more fun,and work as a group. Activities became more fun and its moving towards not being a "single person" but a "team work. i feel much more comfortable around people but not comfortable enough yet, maybe that is why i do not participate much.
4)That the leaders more activities are always the same, i feel like other poeple should participate more (talking about myself) but as i said i do not feel comofrtable yet around others, which makes me not be a leader in the group.

Shannon Lemajeur said...

1) I believe I am a good listener and I am open to everyone's opinions and ideas
2) I enjoy being a leader, but for most activities in this class I tend to be a follower because I usually listen to everyone's ideas first instead of taking charge immediately.
3)I have observed that the majority of the team members persevere and do not give up even when we fail. I think we stay on track for the most part to get the job done

4) I noticed that the same people always tend to be leaders. I think we should listen to people who do not participate as much and allow them to be leaders.

1. the strengths i think i bring to the groups is my voice, because its loud i can help direct people so they hear me and can get my point across.

2. I think i can be a pretty good leader, probably a 7.5 out of 10. I try to take charge if i have an idea i think can work, or if no one else steps up in the group i will try and take charge. As a follower i think i can also be a follower, because sometimes if certain people take charge and don't let others in i will back off and just do whatever everyone else does.

3. Behaviors i have noticed that i like from our class is that our communication has gotten better. Since everyone is becoming more comfortable with one another, everyone is less fearful to speak up in class.

4. Observations i have made of behaviors i don't like is when some classmates will take control, but then not let others share their ideas. They may feel this way because they're already in control but it can get annoying and frustrating when they won't step down and let others share ideas because they think their idea is the best.

1. I think one strength for me is listening, and being open to do whatever. This is good for the group activities because those are both traits you need to have.
2. I think i'm both a leader and a follower, because i have a mind of my own, and come up with ideas, and try to get people to follow along with things. At the same time i'd say i'm a bit of a follower because i follow along with other peoples ideas also.
3. Some behaviors that i've seen from other classmates are that everyone seems to be interested in getting everyone to be able to complete the task. Everyone generally wants to do well, and complete the task, so the class seems interested in what we're doing, and a lot of people are interested in helping others.
4. Some behaviors that I don't like are that people are still in their own little groups. Some of us try to inclue everyone, but some come off as standoffish and don't really look like their interesting in what we're doing, or don't want to help to the best of their abilities.

1. I feel as though I listen well when other people present their ideas. I also can help bring energy to certain activities.
2. I feel as though I'm more so a leader than I am a follower. However, I don't mind stepping back somedays and letting someone else take charge that might know more about the sepcific thing that we are working on.
3. Our class has definately gotten more comfortable with eachother. Alot of people I never would have thought would break out of their shells have, which is very encouraging.
4. There are always two sides to every story so I think that we as a class should step back from a large genralization of the class and look at oursleves and see what we need to work on individually that would most benefit the group as a whole. I also think that sometimes when people step up to lead, they can over do it or force it and I think that if all the leaders start leading by example rather than forcing it the group would flourish alot more than it is currently. (not to say that it isn't flourishing or anything)

1. I bring an open mind to groups because i'm open to try any ideas.
2. I rate myself as a leader at about 7 out of 10. when i feel like a leader is needed, i'll step up and as a follwer i'd rate myself as the same thing.
3. I really like how team members participate and most people have fun.
4. I don't like how some people will argue with someone's opinion or idea thinking their idea is better.

I think one of the streangths I bring to the group is that I have many good ideas for problem solving and stuff like that. I think I am on the cusp of being a follower and leader because of how the class is run I cant really be one of the other. I like how many peole give ideas stuff i dont like is when they all get shut down because one person is the "leader".

1. I like to take risk's but safe ones. I try to speak out but sometimes i get discouraged.
2. I try to bring ideas to the group but somtimes people dont listen all the time.
3. I noticed that we are all starting to get closer, sometimes i see a little bickering back and forth but that is all going to change in time when everyone fels comfotable.
4. Sometimes i just sit back and watch what is going on because i feel like everyone else has it under control but I should participate more.
